The Judge Advocate General's Corps also known as the "JAG Corps" or "JAG" is the legal arm of the United States Navy. Today, the corps consists of a worldwide organization of more than 730 Judge Advocates, 30 limited duty officers (law), 500 enlisted members and nearly 275 civilian personnel, serving under the direction of the Judge Advocate General of the Navy.

The headquarters of the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Department of the Navy is located at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
 

Lt. Cmdr. Harmon Rabb is an F-14 Tomcat fighter pilot, but must change his profession when it is determined he has night blindness. Cmdr. Rabb decided the Navy’s Judge Advocate General Corps would be a good place for him to work. In his new job he comes to the defense or at times prosecutes Navy and Marine Corps suspects. Lt. Sarah MacKenzie is there to help him, at times along with other members of the JAG faculty. Although Rabb works for JAG, he must still maintain his F-14 modifications, for he has to bring rectitude to the many trials he is working on. Along with dealing with his night blindness, Rabb also struggles with the mystery surrounding his father’s disappearance, who was a Navy pilot who never came back from North Vietnam and it is believed his plane was shot down. Rabb has strong feelings that his father is still alive and he hasn't stopped searching for him since he was only a teenage boy.  227 episodes aired on CBS from September 23, 1995 to April 29, 2005
