Rags to Riches is a musical comedy/drama series created for NBC in 1987.
Rags to Riches revolves around millionaire Nick Foley who, in order to seal a business deal, adopts five girls from a local orphanage. Foley ends up becoming fond of the girls and allows them to stay. This is a large adjustment for the girls as well, as they go from orphans in a rundown girls' home to living a life of luxury.
A unique aspect of the series was that two to three times an episode one of the characters would burst into song to explain the situation. The music was a cover of hit songs from the 1960’s, but the lyrics were changed to represent the situation in the program. The series was advertised as a modernization of the classic musical "Annie".
24 episodes aired on NBC from March 15, 1987 to January 15, 1988
