Dynasty is an American television soap opera that aired on ABC from January 12, 1981 to May 11, 1989 for a total of nine seasons and a run of 220 episodes. It was produced by Aaron Spelling. It was ABC's competitor to the television show Dallas. By 1985 it reached the top #1 series in television. Dynasty was even nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best TV Drama Series every year from 1981 to 1986 and won in 1984. A spin-off series called "The Colbys" came from this series.
They are always fighting over their fortune earned from an oil company or they fight about anything else. Dynasty was a glamorous soap opera showing the lives of the elegant and wealthy along with indulgence and deceit . The story is based in Denver, Colorado , revolving around the rich but distressed Carrington family, led by the influential oil mogul, Blake Carrington. In the first episode, there is a marriage between Blake and his gorgeous and friendly secretary, Krystle. Not many people are fond of the union between the two, including Blake's bratty daughter, Fallon, and Krystle's former boyfriend, Matthew Blaisdel. Blake has a lot of problems on his hands, for he finds out that his son Steven is a homosexual and unintentionally kills Steven’s former boyfriend when he catches them in a compromising situation at the end of the first season. During the second season, Blake’s problems rapidly grow since he is on trial and his deceitful ex-wife, Alexis, testifies against him in court. She decides to stay in Denver after the trial is over to cause more damage to Blake and his new wife, Krystle.
