Eight is enough was an American television comedy drama that aired on ABC for a total of five seasons from March 15th, 1977 to May 23rd, 1981 and ran for 112 episodes.  It was created after a newspaper columnist, Thomas Braden, who was in real life a parent of eight children.  He wrote a book titled Eight is Enough.  Each episode was one hour in length. 
 
The plot was about a middle aged man who had eight children and lost his wife, having to deal with raising them on his own.  He lives in Sacramento, California and meets a school teacher whom he falls in love with and marries.  Each episode deals with the daily life of raising eight kids and how the new 'Mom' tries to fit in and be loved by the children.
