The Muppet Show is a British television show produced by Jim Henson with a cast of Muppets. The show itself is a vaudeville-style variety show, with different acts and guests every week. One of the original aspects of the show is that in addition to the acts on the stage, the show cuts to behind the scenes footage of what is going on backstage.
Kermit the Frog is the ringleader trying to ensure that the show goes smoothly and the guest star is happy. Part of Kermit's job is keeping the more outrageous Muppets out of the guest star's hair to make sure they will still agree to do the show .
The Muppet Show did an outstanding job in mixing humor that was appropriate for both children and adults. Towards the later part of the show , stars were trying very hard to get on the Muppet Show and perform with the Muppets.
Throughout The Muppet Show's career, the show earned 4 Primetime Emmys out of 21 nominations. It also won 2 BAFTA awards from 11 nominations and a Peabody award in 1978.
