A young administrator, Darrin Stephens works at an advertisement agency and marries a pretty woman by the name of Samantha. Sam confesses a secret to him during their honeymoon and informs him that she is a witch with magical powers. He wants to live a normal life and has her make a vow that she will never use her powers and live as normal as possible. Sam uses her powers at times to help them in their life. Sam's mother, Endora cannot stand her new son-in-law, for he is mortal. They live in the suburbs of Morning Glory Circle and have an inquisitive neighbor Gladys Kravitz who is suspicious of Samantha, yet can never substantiate the bizarre happenings she sees to her husband Abner Kravitz. He never believes what she is saying, which is comical
