Distinguished by two formats.

Format One: September 11, 1962 to September 7, 1965.

Background: The South Pacific; the island of Taratupa during World War II. The bickering relationship between Lieutenant Quinton McHale, the commander of Squadron 19 and P.T. Boat 73, and Captain Wallace B. Binghamton, the commanding officer who feels that his life is plagued by McHale and his crew of pirates who have turned the island into 'the Las Vegas of the Pacific.'

Determined to enjoy the serenity the war provides from his nagging wife, Binghamton endlessly—but fruitlessly—schemes to expose McHale’s illegal gambling activities, which he hopes will lead to a court-martial and transfer.

Format Two: September 14, 1965 to August 30, 1 966.

Background: Voltafiore, a smll town in Southern Italy, 1944, where McHale, his Squadron 19, and Captain Binghamton are transferred to assist in the European theatre of war. Stories follow the previous format: Binghamton’s determined efforts to rid his life of McHale.
