M Squad was an American television police drama series that aired on NBC for a total of three seasons from September 20, 1957 to June 28, 1960 and a run of 117 episodes.  Each episode was 30 minutes in length.  The show later inspired the spin-off for a television show called Police Squad. 
 
The plot took place in Chicago, Illinois and starred Detective Lieutenant Frank Ballinger who was a member of the M Squad which was a special unit of the Chicago Police Department.  The plots revolved around how they would fight organized crime, corruption and crimes not only locally but all over the world.
