Blondie was the first of two TV series based on the comic strip of the same name. It first aired on January 4, 1957 on NBC. The first time airing it lasted one season and 26 episodes. Pamela Britton was chosen to play Blonide Bumstead. Arthur Lake played the role of Dagwood Bumstead which he had done in the Blonidie movie series as well. The show was then brought back to CBS on September 26th, 1968 to January 9th, 1969. Again, it only lasted one season and this time only 14 episodes. The lack of success was mainly due to the competition of other series airing at the same time on Thursday evenings.
