Captain Kangaroo hosts this daily children's program. Each episode is full of education activities, songs, and games for the children to enjoy. Captain Kangaroo 's special friends who would come to visit were Mr. Green Jeans who was known to bring an animal to the show , Dennis, a handyman who knew how to fix everything and Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit. Bunny never uttered a word, yet had a way of making his point of view clear, while Mr. Moose always played tricks on the Captain.
Captain Kangaroo was a children's television show that aired on weekday mornings on CBS TV from October 3, 1955 until 1984, which made it the longest-running children's tv program of its day.
The show was conceived by and the title character played by Bob Keeshan (a decorated World War II Iwo Jima veteran). Bob Keeshan was also the original Clarabell the Clown on The Howdy Doody Show when it aired on NBC.
