Ralph Bellamy plays Mike Barnett, a bright and tough private detective in New York City . This very violent show was broadcast live until 1952. The earliest of all network detective yarns this show by Pathescope, and under the sponsorship of RJ Reynolds Tobacco, with Ralph Bellamy well-suited to the role of pertinacious freelancer Mike Barnett, whose sojourns among the seedier urban dwellers, made for some unadulterated viewing in pre-censored television. Well composed by some of the more accomplished writers of live television drama (Vincent Bogert, Burton Benjamin, William Kendall Clark, and Max Erlich among them) whose neatly constructed and literate teleplays have not in this genre been rivaled. In syndication the series was shown as “Follow That Man.”
