The Ed Sullivan Show aired on CBS for a total of 24 seasons from June 20th, 1948 to June 6th, 1971 and 1068 episodes. It was done in Black and White from 1948-1965 and then in color from 1965-1971. The show was hosted by a New York entertainment collumist, Ed Sullivan. The show had every type of entertainer appear such as opera singers, song writers, comedians, dancers and even circus acts. The original title of the show was actually, "Toast of the Town" however, it was always referred to as, "The Ed Sullivan Show".
The Ed Sullivan Show would have different talent appear weekly every Sunday evening as well as bring back reoccuring characters. Most of the shows were filmed in New York City , however some were done live overseas in places such as the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan.
