Alex Anderson was the first to come up with the concept of airing an animated television series when he worked at Terrytoons Studios.  The studio was not fond of the animation idea and wanted to just concentrate on film, so Anderson formed a partnership with Jay Ward.  Together they formed "Television Arts Productions" in 1948.  Jerry Fairbanks became the supervising producer, which allowed him to sell Crusader Rabbit in national syndication.  WNBC-TV in New York continued to show the original Crusader Rabbit episodes from 1949 through 1967.  It became the first animated series produced just for television. There were 455 episodes of 5 minutes each, 195 black and white and 260 in color.
