Did you know the word ‘cartoon’ derives from the Italian ‘cartone’ and Dutch ‘karton’ (a drawing on strong, heavy paper used to prepare for painting a fresco or tapestry)?
But these days its use is almost always referring to an animated short film created for humor, whether it’s satirical or just plain silly. Whether young or old, watching cartoons is one of the simple pleasures that we can all enjoy, and here are some treasures:
