Case Dismissed (1954)

Case Dismissed

(1954)

Crime / Drama / Detective

Cast: John Fitzgerald

Case Dismissed was a very interesting show that was one part legal drama and one part public service announcement.  Aired out of Chicago in 1954, 13 episodes include cases and stories written with the assistance of the Chicago Bar Association that were designed to highlight legal problems and conflicts, and point listeners to additional resources if they were having similar problems.

Each 30 minute segment begins with a story highlighting the details of the case, followed by a legal decision.  After the decision, the host, John Fitzgerald, would go over the case and explain the legal issues involved and break it down to be better understood by the average listener.  The show was known for its clear interpretation of legal issues and excellent selection of topics.  The show was so well put together in fact that many of the issues it covered, and the advice given, remains applicable today!
