Randy Stone is a tough and streetwise reporter who worked the night beat for the Chicago Star.  He spends his nights looking for human interest stories--the night people, the desperate, the lonely, the unwanted.  Sometimes he could help them, sometimes he couldn't, but he always treats them with respect, and he always shows both heart and toughness.
