Philip Morris Playhouse (1941-1949)

Philip Morris Playhouse

(1941 - 1949)

Drama

Philip Morris Playhouse was an extension of the popular show called Johnny Presents.  Both shows were sponsored by Philip Morris, and featured the company's trademark little person bellhop, Johnny Roventini, who would appear in the show shouting "Call for Philip Morris", the company's slogan.

Amidst the vintage advertising from Philip Morris, the Philip Morris Playhouse also played music and aired suspenseful dramas, many focusing on grim tales of murder.  The radio dramas are very well acted and drew a large number of Hollywood stars to play roles, including Vincent Price and Marlene Dietrich.
