Comedy / Musical Variety
Good News (also known as Good News of 1938, Good News of 1939, and Maxwell House Coffee Time ) was a musical variety show that included an extraordinary array of guest stars from Hollywood. Good News was a joint venture between MGM and Maxwell House Coffee, with MGM producing and providing the talent to highlight its latest movie, and Maxwell House Coffee sponsoring the show for $25,000 a week. Good News was billed as the "most spectacular radio show ever launched", and it was certainly one of the biggest. The Backstage at the Movies segment gave listeners an inside ear into the dressing rooms and board meetings behind some of Hollywood's biggest stars making big budget films.
