Jack Benny had a long, long career on the radio.  After appearing as a guest on Ed Sullivan’s radio show in 1932 he was given his own show (The Canada Dry Program).  His career spanned three decades and was broadcast by several networks.
As was the custom of the times, most shows were named for the sponsor, so there was The Canada Dry Program-Jack Benny Show from May, 1933 to January, 1933; The Chevrolet Program-Jack Benny Show from March, 1933 to April, 1934; The General Tire Revue-Jack Benny Show from April to September, 1934; The Jell-O Program starring Jack Benny from October, 1934 to May, 1942; The Grape Nuts Program starring Jack Benny from October, 1942 to June, 1944; and The Lucky Strike Program starring Jack Benny from October, 1944 to May, 1955.
Repeats of some of his earlier shows were rebroadcast from 1956 to 1958 under the title The Best of Jack Benny, sponsored by State Farm Insurance, who would also sponsor his television show in the 1960’s.
His shows included comedy monologues and skits, music, and many guest stars.
