We Were Soldiers is a 2002 American war film that dramatized the Battle of Ia Drang on November 14, 1965 — the first major engagement of the United States Army in the Vietnam War. 

Lt. Colonel Hal Moore along with 400 young soldiers makes up the American 7th Air Cavalry . They go to battle against 2,000 North Vietnamese soldiers. This fight was one of the most brutal the U.S. ever saw. The film also depicts the love between their families and how war affects them.
