This film is based on a true story, where FBI agent Joe Pistone goes undercover as Donnie Brasco to investigate the New York mafia. He becomes
friends with Lefty Ruggiero in order to become part of the mafia, led by Sonny Black. Ruggiero and Pistone become close as they collect money and become more successful, while Pistone is receiving more and more information. The job becomes very stressful on Pistone’s life, for he never sees his family and his wife leaves him, while the mafia is suspicious that an inside person may be working with them. He knows if he leaves the group, Ruggiero will suffer the consequences.
