The Shawshank Redemption trailer
The film is set during 1947, where Andrew Dufresne, a banker is sentenced to two life sentences at Shawshank State Penitentiary in Maine for murdering his wife and her lover, for the evidence against was strong. Andy immediately becomes friends with Ellis Boyd Redding, known as “Red”.
Andy becomes the assistant to the prison librarian after helping out the Captain of the Guards Byron Hadley on an alternative way to pay his taxes. Soon after all the guards are coming to Andy for financial advice.
Bogs, the leader of “The Sisters” gang sexually assaults Andy, leaving him to the doctors. Hadley severely beats Bogs up for it, leaving him paralyzed. Andy wants the prison library to grow and does all he can to make it happen.
Warden Norton starts working with Andy to launder money under another name of Randall Stevens, so Andy can stay in secluded cell and be able to keep the library. Another man by the name of Tommy Williams joins Red’s group of friends in 1965. Andy helps him in getting his GED. When Tommy hears of why Andy is in prison, he tells him he heard of another inmate in a different prison talking about the same exact murder. This could all prove that Andy is innocent, but Norton is not fond of this idea, for he fears Andy might talk about his laundering of the money when he is freed. He has Hadley kill Tommy, telling him he was trying to flee the prison and secluded Andy from everyone else.
Andy ends up helping Red find his way after he is finally released from prison. Even though Andy was innocent, he was glad Red could finally live a true life.
