Ren is a teenager who moves with his family from Chicago to a small western town. He is different from everyone else in town and is shocked to find out that rock music and dancing are against the law. He becomes interested in Ariel who is responsible for the new law and is the daughter of a strict minister. Ren, along with everyone else wants the town to have music and dance since the senior prom is approaching, yet he is the only one who takes initiative.
