Tony Manero is a nineteen-year-old boy who has lived in Brooklyn all his life. He has a big love for dancing and spends every Saturday night at the disco where he is known for his dance moves. Things are very different at home for him though, for he is constantly at odds with his father and in competition with older brother, a priest. He is also unhappy at his petty job at a paint store. Things start to change for the better when he discovers Stephanie in the disco and begins practicing with her for the disco’s dance competition. Stephanie has big aspirations to leave Brooklyn and move to the city. This starts to influence Tony for the better.
