During 1975, terrorist acts were all that was seen in the nightly news, while UBS television network is transforming. Howard Beale, an old UBS anchor gets fired after his ratings go down. He is then taken advantage of by the network for their own good, which affects everyone around him.
In 2000, this film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
