A Victorian scientist and his young American protagonist experiment with their new apparatus on a Welsh mountain. Their machine is stronger than they thought and ends up in a gigantic hole at the Earth’s core. There they discover a human race, slaves to vicious, enormous ancient birds with strong sense capabilities. The visitors help the slaves , for one is very good looking.
