Johnny (Glen Lee) has been raised by John Applebee (James Westerfield), an undertaker, since he was rescued by him as an infant from a rattlesnake.  Applebee has raised Johnny in the quiet, yet grim lifestyle an undertaker lives and would prefer him to stay that way.  Things get complicated for Johnny when he starts to spend time with a married woman.  Throw in some stage robbers, bounty hunters and an African-American cavalryman into the mix and you have a western full of excitement and action.
