Sheriff Aaron Whitaker patrols his territory in the Louisiana bayou country, and is faced with a mysterious death. The victim, a young girl, appears to have been attacked by a vicious animal, but the medical examiner determines the death was caused by a blunt object wielded by human hands -- a murder. From the circumstances of the crime, the evidence, and the testimony of the local witnesses, Whitaker concludes that a werewolf is responsible for the killing. He must discover who the loup garou is before it can kill again.
