Quincy Drew and Jason O'Rourke are pals whom have gotten away with every form of deception. They change their ways when they run into the old skin game. Jason is black so he pretends to be Quincy’s slave throughout Missouri and Kansas in 1857, even though Jason was born a free man in New Jersey. Quincy travels to each town, selling Jason for a lot of money and then leaving town. They reunite afterwards and choose another destination and do it all over again.
