Tommy Callahan is a stock car racer who suffers from a blackout during a race that leads to a fatality. He gets fired and is left with no choice but to begin working for Pete Madsen's thrill circus. Tommy begins to show off his driving skills to Pete's daughter Francie and her boyfriend Eddie Sands. Eddie competes against Tommy's girl Annie Blaine and they become competitive on their next race. Tommy begins to have flashbacks of when he drove his brother over with a go-kart. Eddie then gets into an accident.
