Casey Owens is a young mechanic who has created a design for a turbine car engine leading the way to build a new speed record. Rich bachelor Stanford Rogers enlists Casey to construct the car for him to compete in the Tri-State Endurance Run. Chuck Manning, an engineering student Casey encountered in a drag race, realizes capable weakness in the design of the car. When the car goes for an unsatisfactory test run, Rogers leaves the car for a regular racing car. Casey and Chuck fix up the turbine car to go against Rogers in the race.
