Clay Spencer is a big family man who works hard at his job. Everyone is town respects him, for he is so helpful to everyone. He even helps a minster out, even though he never really attends mass. His one dream is to build his wife a beautiful home on Spencer’s mountain. He may turn his dream into reality after his son Clayboy gets a chance to attend college . 

Based on Earl Hamner Jr.'s novel, this is the book and film that inspired TV's The Waltons.
