Three prisoners are on their way to Tahiti to help out with a children’s leprosy hospital. Problems arise when they make a surprising stop on a different island. The plan is for Father Perreau is to get off in order for Father Doonan to get on. Yet, a volcano erupts and the Governor informs everyone to leave. The children and prisoners are on top of the island and have no way of getting down alive. They must work as a group to make it down to safety.
