Alfred Eaton, the main character is depressed from the marriage troubles he is having although his business career is booming.  He has to make the choice to either continue being successful in business, or try to save his marriage.  In addition, he has the opportunity to pursue a relationship with a much younger woman named Natalie.  He finds out that due to his constant traveling for work, his wife is having an affair and she suggests they remain married but have an open marriage.  In the end Alfred chooses to enter a relationship with Natalie.
