This film is set during 1896 in Montmartre where a dance called the Can-Can is prohibited, for women lift their skirts. Simone ignores the law and has a nightclub where she has the dance performed every night. Her girls know how to use their wiles to let the authorities ignore what they are doing or even having them enter the nightclub. Judge Philippe Forrestier is a young and eager man who wants to put an end to the dance. Simone tries to change his mind, but her boyfriend Francois is not fond of the idea.
