Jan Morrow is an interior decorator who shares a phone line with composer Brad Allen. Brad is constantly using the phone to talk to his many girlfriends, which frustrates Jan. She starts to dislike Brad for this even though they have never met. One day Brad sees Jan and tries to attract her by pretending to be a naïve country boy from Texas by the name of Rex Stetson. Jan seems to be smitten by Rex.
