Teacher's Pet

(1958)

Comedy

Directed by

Cast: Clark Gable, Doris Day and Mamie Van Doren

Stone requests Gannon to speak in front of a journalism class that is taught during the evening. He rejects the request, writing a distasteful note to the professor revealing his feelings but is sent by his managing editor to speak in front of the class. When he goes to the class, he finds Stone to be a very pretty woman and before he has a chance to speak to her and express his apologies, Stone reads his note to the class and ridicules Gannon.

Embarrassed, he comes to the conclusion of joining the class to prove her wrong, pretending to be a wallpaper salesman by the name of Jim Gallagher. Erica finds the new student to be a charismatic man, whom she inadvertently thinks too bright for a student.  Gannon continues to go along with his subterfuge, for he has become fascinated with Stone, and has to resist Dr. Pine and his girlfriend Peggy DeFore, who sings at a nightclub. When Erica uncovers Gannon's imposture, she quickly ends their relationship, but Dr. Pine persuades her to give Gannon the benefit of doubt. They both start to understand each other’s feelings on the topic.
