The film is set in 1911, where the prince of Carpatha travels to London for the coronation of the new British King. There he spends his only night at the Coconut Girl club and becomes fascinated with a helpless American girl. He sends his British officials to welcome her to a private dinner at the embassy. She is not taken too seriously, even though she understands German. The showgirl ends up learning a lot from her meeting and is liked by the Queen, so she sticks around for longer than she expected to.
