Eddie Willis has been a well-known sport journalist for seventeen years in New York City , but is left without a job after his newspaper ends. Nick Benko, an impo rtant fight promoter requests his help as a PR man for his new fighter Toro Moreno. Eddie is familiar with the fighting world and after seeing Toro fight, he comes to realize there is no hope for him becoming a champion fighter. Benko proposes him a good salary he cannot refuse. Their plan is to have Toro fight men who are no longer strong as they used to be, so they get his name out there after winning so many fights.
