The film is set in 1947, where the British are about to leave India. Some of the Anglo-Indians are sad about their departure since their cousins gave them more of an important status. The British and Indians are not fond of the Anglo-Indians. Victoria Jones is one of the mixed Indians who is witness to all the hatred surrounding her.
