Detective Roy Hargis has feelings for Ilona and tries to keep her from harm’s way, even though there is a lot of proof against her.  There is finally a break in the investigation when a dance-hall girl, Sandra Lamoreaux saw Stan at the location of the murder, but uses her knowledge to extort Stan.
