Bushrod Gentry is an easygoing frontiersman who is chased by the very eager Mary. Mary is a tomboy who thinks if she marries Bushrod, she will avoid becoming a spinster. She tries to trick him into marrying her, but Bushrod is not interested in marriage at all.
