Jervis Pendelton is a millionaire who travels to France and spot an 18-year old girl in an orphanage. He is impressed with her and pays for her education to a New England college . She writes letters to him, but he doesn’t read them and visits her at a dance after three years. They fall in love, yet she doesn’t know he is the man who paid for her education.
