Linus and David Larrabee come from a rich and affluent family. Linus has a good work ethic, in charge of the family business, leaving him no time for starting a family. David is the opposite from him, having fun all the time. He has a job with the family business, but never works and has been married three times, all ending in divorce. He has never seemed to notice or pay attention to Sabrina Fairchild, the young and quiet daughter of their driver. She has been smitten with David for as long as she can remember. Things change when she goes away to Paris for two years and returns a graceful and cultivated young woman. She has David’s full attention now, but falls in love with Linus, who feels the same way about her.
In 2002 Sabrina was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
