An American carnival is traveling on tour in Germany where the barker catches a female pickpocket and decides to offer her a job, instead of turning her over to the authorities. The young woman begins a relationship with the barker, who treats her very poorly, so she takes a job as the high diver's assistant and eventually becomes part of the act. Now a successful performer, and engaged to marry her caring co-star, the woman is distraught when the barker begins to bother her and her old feelings for him come back.
