In this film, Gene Autry plays a ranger who is ordered to protect crusading publisher John Randolph (William Forrest) and his printer Smiley Burnette.  Using Indian raids as a cover-up, bandits Art Selby (Robert Livingston) and Clint Raybold (Gregg Barton) have been attacking Randolph and Burnette.  When Gene’s outlaw brother kills Randolph, Gene himself is suspect and is forced to get to the root of the crime.
