David MacLean is witness to a spaceship crashing into a sandpit near his home. His father goes to see what happened, but returns very different. He used to be a nice and contented man, where now he is depressed and rude. Everyone who falls into the sandpit comes out acting in the same way as his father. David is aware that aliens are behind this and gets help from an intelligent lady astronomer.
