Clemson Reade is a business executive whose girlfriend is a U.S. diplomat named Effie.  Clemson is not happy in the relationship and wants marriage, for Effie does not put enough effort into their relationship.  Clemson decides he wants to marry Princess Tarji after meeting her since she knows how to make him happy.  Due to the oil situation the State Department enlists Effie to make sure everything is fine in the courtship of Clemson and Tarji.
