Gary Cooper plays Major Lex Kearney who is let go from the army for being a coward during battle, because he has offered to go undercover in order to stop raids from happening against the shipment of horses. He ends up winning the trust of the Confederate soldiers and jay-hawkers, which leads him to find information on who is providing them with the routes.
