This film centers on the life of big star and cattle baron Devereaux Burke, who is hired by Andrew Jackson to convince Sam Houston from stopping his plans on establishing Texas as a republic. Burke must take head on state senator Thomas Craden, who falls in love with in Craden's newspaper-editor girlfriend Martha Ronda.
